Charles Athanasopoulos Recipient of 2026 Activism And Social Justice Community Engagement Award (National Communication Association)

Charles Athanasopoulos was recently selected as the recipient of the 2026 Activism & Social Justice Community Engagement Award by the National Communication Association Conference based on his work with the Puerto Rican Independence Party, the Black Rhetoric & Culture Collective, and the Columbus Community Abolition Collective. This award "honors a division member who has engaged in collective action aimed at community engagement that furthers the mission of the Activism & Social Justice Division. The purpose of this award is to recognize activism and social justice work that transcends the academy, going above and beyond research and teaching to impact communities in need.”
