Charles Athanasopoulos Wins 2026 Critical and Cultural Studies new investigator Award (National Communication Association)

Charles Athanasopoulos was recently awarded the 2026 Critical and Cultural Studies Division New Investigator Award by the National Communication Association. This award "honors an emerging scholar who has taken a leadership role in CCSD by setting a new research agenda for critical and cultural studies, through mentorship, and through advocacy on behalf of CCSD’s interests." He previously won the 2025 CCSD Book of the Year Award for Black Iconoclasm (2024), and the 2023 CCSD Outstanding Article Award for his article on "Fanonian Slips."
